The SIXFW project aimed at creating an easy-to-use, non-bloated firewall that thinks IPv6 first.
I think many home and enterprise firewall routers suffer from their vintage IP heritage. The current Internet protocol, IPv6, is conceptually different from IPv4. Unfortunately, this is often not reflected in the implementations of said equipment. I started the SIXFW project to build a modern, IPv6-first firewall router. It may be used as reference implementation and inspiration for other projects, as well as production firewall for private homes and mid-sized offices.
